Our goal is simple: to make your building journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

How Our Building Process Works

Initial Contact

Let’s Start With a Conversation

Every building project starts with a conversation. Get in touch with us by phone or email to discuss your project, ideas, budget and expected timeline.

This initial conversation gives us an opportunity to understand what you’re looking to achieve and whether CWS Construction is the right fit for your project.

Whether you’re planning a new home, renovation, transportable home or another building project, we’re happy to hear about your ideas.

Follow-Up Communication

Turning Your Initial Ideas Into a Plan

Following your initial enquiry, we’ll get back in touch by phone or email to confirm the details you’ve provided and arrange a face-to-face meeting.

This allows us to clarify any questions, discuss your requirements further and make sure we’re starting with a clear understanding of your project.

We believe good communication from the beginning helps create a smoother building experience.

Face-to-Face Meeting

Let’s Talk About Your Vision

The face-to-face meeting is where we take a deeper look at your project. We’ll discuss your lifestyle, needs, ideas and aspirations for your build.

This is your opportunity to tell us what matters most to you and what you would like your finished home or building to achieve.

Feel free to bring along sketches, inspiration images, plans or any ideas you’ve collected. The more we understand about your vision, the better we can tailor the project to suit you.

Initial Concept Plans & Estimate

Bringing Your Ideas to Life

Once we’ve established a clear understanding of your requirements, we’ll develop initial concept plans and provide an estimate based on your project.

The concept plans help you visualise how your ideas could come together, while the estimate provides an initial understanding of the potential costs involved.

This stage gives us the opportunity to make sure the proposed direction aligns with your expectations before progressing further.

Preliminary Plans for Approval

Refining the Details Together

Once the initial concepts have been developed, we’ll refine the plans and present the preliminary designs for your approval.

This is an important opportunity to review the proposed plans, discuss any changes and make adjustments before moving forward.

Our aim is to make sure the design reflects your requirements and that we’re all on the same page before progressing to the next stage.

Final Scope of Works & Quote Presentation

Clear Details. Clear Expectations.

Once you’re happy with the preliminary plans, we’ll finalise the scope of works and prepare your detailed quote.

The scope of works outlines the work involved in your project, while the quote provides a clear overview of the costs.

We believe transparency is an important part of building a strong relationship with our clients, so we’ll take the time to go through the details with you and answer any questions you may have.

Contract Agreement & Signing

Making It Official

Once you’ve reviewed and accepted the quote, we’ll formalise the project through a building contract.

As a member of New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB), CWS Construction uses NZCB contracts, providing a clear framework for your building project.

Homeowners can also choose to apply for a Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee. The Halo Guarantee provides protection after the building process and for the following 10 years, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

This stage confirms the agreed scope of your project and allows us to move forward with the next steps.

Plans Submitted for Consent

Getting Ready to Build

With your plans approved and the project documentation in place, we’ll submit the plans for the required council consent.

This is an important step before construction can begin, ensuring the project meets the applicable building and regulatory requirements.

Once the necessary approvals are in place, your project will be ready to move towards the construction stage.
