This project began as a carefully planned two-stage build between the client and their architect, with our clients initially engaging CWS Construction to complete Stage One—a 92m² garage with an attached studio. Featuring timeless brick cladding and a long-run Colorsteel roof, this stage was designed with the future in mind. Every aspect, from the building location and finished floor heights to the overall design and site planning, was carefully coordinated to ensure a seamless transition into Stage Two.
Throughout the build, our focus on quality workmanship, clear communication, and proactive project management gave our clients complete confidence in the process. As a result, they were so pleased with the standard of our work and the experience of building with us that they chose to proceed with Stage Two immediately, once again entrusting CWS Construction with bringing their vision to life.
Stage Two added a further 225m², creating a beautifully crafted 317m² home that complements the original garage and studio. The exterior combines classic brick cladding with striking vertical shiplap timber cladding from the JSC TMT® Thermally Modified Timber range. The Taiga profile was selected for its rich, warm brown tones and distinctive butterfly knots, giving the home a unique character and natural warmth. Produced through a chemical-free thermal modification process, the timber offers enhanced durability while showcasing the beauty of the wood’s natural grain. Sourced from responsibly managed European Pinus sylvestris forests and locally profiled by JSC into New Zealand-approved profiles, it provides both exceptional performance and timeless aesthetic appeal.
This project is a testament to the value of thoughtful planning, strong client relationships, and quality craftsmanship. What started as a standalone garage and studio evolved into a complete family home, with every stage built to the same high standard and delivered through a partnership founded on trust.
